Who is Joshua Tay?
Joshua Tay leads AdvenTOUR Singapore (part of the WOW Experience group), personally overseeing every team-building programme from the initial inquiry to the final debrief. Since 2007, he has directed corporate team building across Singapore for everyone from primary school students to senior management teams at major multinational corporations like Citibank, Oracle, and Shell.
Joshua’s journey in leadership and group development began long before founding the company. He started leading youth programmes in 1996 through The Boys’ Brigade and the People’s Association, qualifying as a People’s Association canoeing instructor in 1998. After earning his Diploma in Information Technology from Nanyang Polytechnic in 1999, he served as a Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) officer—first as a Scout Platoon Commander in 1 SIR, and later as a Training Development Officer at the Officer Cadet School, SAFTI MI, where he shaped the officer cadet training syllabus.
Following his time in the SAF, Joshua worked as a ropes course, rappelling, and kayaking instructor, as well as an operations executive for corporate and school team building. He launched his own events company in 2006, successfully breaking even on a six-figure investment within just nine months. By 2010, the business had expanded across four countries, and in 2013, his group of companies was recognized with the Most Promising SME award from the SMBA.

Safety is the backbone of every experience Joshua designs. He is a certified Instructor Trainer in scuba diving, first aid, AED administration, and DAN oxygen provision—qualifications that empower him to train the very instructors who supervise participants. Every water-based, height-based, and high-physical-activity program AdvenTOUR offers is rigorously planned against these professional safety standards before it ever reaches a client.
Beyond AdvenTOUR
When he isn’t leading corporate adventures, Joshua remains deeply active in youth mentorship and aviation. He volunteers as the Captain of The Boys’ Brigade company at his former primary school and sits on the Brigade Executive at headquarters level. Fueling his passion for flight, he holds a Commercial Helicopter Pilot Licence (NZ-CAA, 2015) and has been a US-FAA helicopter flight instructor since 2023.

Joshua’s three decades of industry expertise didn’t happen overnight—they are built on a solid foundation spanning four distinct chapters:
Youth leadership
1989: Named Best Recruit, then Best Junior, in The Boys’ Brigade, and appointed Company Sergeant Major in charge of more than 40 boys.
1996: Begins leading youth programmes with The Boys’ Brigade and the People’s Association.
1998: Qualifies as a PA canoeing instructor and heads canoeing at Nanyang Polytechnic.
Military service
2001: Commissioned from the Officer Cadet Course; serves as a Scout Platoon Commander in 1 SIR.
2002: Completes the Combat Survival Training Course by Commandos and the Combat Medic First Aid Course.
2003: Becomes Training Development Officer at OCS SAFTI MI and wins The Boys’ Brigade Adventure Quest.
2004: Certified as a scuba diving instructor and ropes element instructor.
Building AdvenTOUR
2006: Starts his first events and recreation company and breaks even within 9 months.
2007: Launches AdvenTOUR and is appointed Chief Trainer for Combat Strategy Tactics at the People’s Association.
2010: Expands into Indonesia, the Philippines and Cambodia.
2011: Becomes an Instructor Trainer in scuba, first aid, AED and oxygen, and is invited by Sentosa Development Corporation to open an attraction at Fort Siloso.
